On November 14, 2025, KTO InnoPort collaborated with Shaw College to co-organize a college assembly, marking a vibrant start to the CubicZine Human Library series. Themed “Everyone Can Be an Artist, Anyone Can Be an Entrepreneur," the assembly featured Ms. Irene Au, a Shaw College council member and founder of the KALOS music platform, alongside Ms. Gigi Morales, founder of the social enterprise wePaint.
KALOS is a dynamic music and cultural innovation platform that provides resources and spaces for musicians to develop their talents, connect globally, and showcase their creativity. It unites award-winning musicians, renowned scholars, and industry leaders who embody the true spirit of music. Meanwhile, wePaint is a social enterprise that empowers autistic and Special Educational Needs (SEN) youth through art training and activities, enhancing their employment skills and promoting community inclusion through public awareness and creative projects.
The two guest speakers and KTO staff engaged in a fruitful conversation guided by thoughtful questions. The dialogue explored both Irene’s and Gigi’s unique pathways from arts and corporate backgrounds into social entrepreneurship, their experiences managing international music collaborations and social enterprises, as well as challenges and insights related to managing artists and creatively blending business with artistry.
Following the talk, the event showcased the collaborative energy of a live co-creation performance. Jill Lai, an artist from the wePaint social enterprise shared quick sketch artworks on stage. Another artist, Kelvin Wong, and Jayson Chan, a musician from KALOS, joined in for an improvisational 5-minute piece — the musician spontaneously expressing his emotions on an electronic keyboard while the artist sketched his performance live. This vibrant interaction exemplified the transformative fusion of art and entrepreneurship.
The lively atmosphere of the session inspired students to appreciate how artistic passion and entrepreneurship can go hand in hand. It was a powerful reminder that creating art can also be a viable career, empowering students to envision themselves as both artists and entrepreneurs.
InnoPort looks forward to the upcoming Human Library series collaborations with other colleges.

Following the publication of the new book Social Innovation by CUHK Scholars 2.0, the CubicZine “Human Library” Series transforms the social innovation practices of scholars, social entrepreneurs, and founders featured in the book into face-to-face interactive "living books." The cases span five major themes: creative thinking, environmental protection, community inclusion, physical and mental well-being, as well as life and culture. These dialogues fully embody the value of cross-disciplinary collaboration and social impact.
Through sharing diverse experiences, we aim to show how knowledge can genuinely serve the community and drive social progress.
