On 30 April 2026, the Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, hosted a hybrid seminar titled “Navigating Grey Areas: Conflict of Interest Cases All Staff Should Know” at UGA, InnoPort. Led by Dr. Jang Sae-Pang, Senior Legal Counsel of KTO’s Legal and Compliance team, the session brought together around 100 CUHK staff from across academic, administrative, and operational units, attending both in person and online, to explore the complexities of conflict-of-interest (COI) management. The seminar aimed to strengthen institutional awareness and foster a culture of integrity through practical, case-based learning.
In a focused yet interactive setting, Dr. Jang Sae-Pang guided attendees through real-world scenarios that highlighted the nuanced and often ambiguous nature of COI situations. Participants were encouraged to reflect on everyday decision-making processes, gaining clarity on how to identify, assess, and appropriately manage potential conflicts.
Through this seminar, KTO continues to promote a proactive approach to compliance—equipping staff with the tools and awareness needed to uphold ethical standards and strengthen a culture of openness across the University.
