We were delighted to welcome participants to our alumni sharing session When Psychology Meets AI Tech: Turning Insights into a Real Startup, co-hosted by the Social Innovation team and PI Centre of KTO. The session featured Ms Karis Ho, a registered organisational psychologist and entrepreneur, and founder of EVOL, an AI-powered relationship platform.
During the session, Karis shared her journey from business psychology to building her own startup, highlighting how personality insights helped her identify pain points in the dating app market and shape her product design.
She introduced EVOL’s development from its first version using personality-based matching to its upcoming version integrating generative AI, combining personality traits and facial similarity to deliver a more personalised user experience. Karis also shared practical startup insights on defining a clear USP, understanding customers, and navigating investor perspectives.
Karis candidly reflected on the challenges and failures encountered along the way, and emphasised the importance of curiosity, continuous learning, and building the right team to drive long-term growth.
The session provided students with practical startup insights and demonstrated how interdisciplinary approaches—particularly the integration of psychology and AI — can drive innovation.
