Overview

As the first and only brand award in Hong Kong recognized by the Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA) and the professional design community, BDA has grown to become the most reputable certification platform. This year, the judging perspective to honour not only brands with outstanding design but also leaders across multiple fields, including environmental and social impact, cultural impact, innovation, user experience, and market performance.

Established in 1972, HKDA was the first and most comprehensive organisation of its kind in Hong Kong. It brings together practising designers, academics, and industry leaders to foster design professionalism, advance the design industry, and raise public awareness of design's value.
 
BDA firmly believes that design is much more than just surface; it is a powerful language that translates brand value into market understanding, social trust, and lasting influence.

BDA has received nominations from leading industry institutions, along with the support of numerous enterprises, industrial organisations, and hundreds of distinguished brands. Past winners include iconic brands and organizations such as AIRSIDE, Anta, Hong Kong Tramways, Chow Sang Sang, Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP), TamJai SamGor, Maxim’s Group, and SPARKLE by KAREN CHAN. Through BDA, participating brands receive prestigious awards at the Hong Kong Design Summit, gain professional recognition, and receive millions of media exposures, which in turn greatly enhances brand authority and spotlight presence.

The Knowledge Transfer Office is invited to consider suitable nominations for the awards.

Eligibility

• Start-up, spin-off or InnoHK with CUHK Technology
• The Person-In-Charge (PIC) MUST BE full-time staff at CUHK holding positions within the professoriate or research academic ranks

• *Preference will be given to applicants with CUHK IP.

(The number of awards in each tier will be determined based on the quantity and quality of submissions.)

Application Fee: HK$2,800*
*Teams nominated by the Chinese University of Hong Kong may receive a full waiver of the standard application fee (HK$ 2,800).

Application Procedures

Applications should be submitted to Knowledge Transfer Events Management Team, Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) via the following online application portals by 20 Apr 2026, 17:00. Late and/or incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Timeline for BDA Award 2026

Important notes

• The final selection of teams will be subject to an internal review by the KTO vetting committee and acceptance by the main organizer.
• All applications should be submitted to Knowledge Transfer Events Management Team, Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO). If no record of information submission is received, KTO reserves the right to exclude the project.
