LEAP East is the inaugural international edition of the globally recognized LEAP technology platform, to be held from 8 -10 July, 2026 at HKCEC, Hong Kong

LEAP East is jointly organized by the innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau (ITIB), Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), The Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming and Drones (SAFCSP), together with major government entities such as STC, NTDP, NHC, PIF and ELM.

The event is supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO), OASES, InvestHK, the Hong Kong Tourism Board, and leading ecosystem partners including Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund, FinTech Association of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong AI Lab.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) will exhibit 8 teams to promote our innovations on related disciplines. If you would like to showcase your innovations or seek research collaborations at this event, please contact us by 30 April 2026.

 

Scope and Significance:

LEAP East will convene 25,000+ attendees, 300 exhibitors, and 200+ global technology leaders, creating a high-impact environment for senior-level engagement, cross-border business, and rapid market expansion. With a strong focus on AI, robotics, fintech, telecommunications, smart cities, mobility, and emerging technologies, the event is designed to accelerate innovation and unlock new commercial opportunities across Asia and the Middle East.

 

Eligibility of Teams:

  • The Person-In-Charge (PIC) MUST BE full-time staff at CUHK holding positions within professoriate or research academic ranks.
  • Priority will be given to applicants using technology covered by CUHK-filed patents
  • Start-ups with a focus on technologies including but not limited to
    1. Cloud & AI
    2. Gaming
    3. Fintech
    4. Healthcare
    5. Robotics
    6. Space
    7. Sports Tech
    8. Smart Cities

*Teams may be invited for interview prior to being shortlisted.

 

Assessment Criteria:

  1. Innovation and technology content of the business
  2. Technology Readiness Level (TRL)
  3. Commercial viability of the business
  4. Team expertise and commitment
  5. Benefits brought to the public or specific community group(s)

 Important notes:

  • KTO will cover the costs of registration, booth and entry passes.
  • Local transportation and logistics will not be provided.
  • Project teams are required to maintain a physical presence at their designated booths throughout the duration of the event. The attendance records will be retained by the Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) and may serve as a reference for the screening and selection of teams in future KT events.
  • Additional works on poster development and event preparation will be needed prior to physical presentation at HKCEC in July 2026.
  • The final selection of teams will be subject to an internal review by the KTO vetting committee and acceptance by the main organizer
  • All applications should be submitted to Knowledge Transfer Events Management Team, Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO). If no record of information submission is received, KTO reserves the right to exclude the project from the CUHK pavilion and promotional activities.
