About the Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) 2026

Jointly hosted by the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, and co-organised with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, the Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES), is the largest gerontechnology public education event in Hong Kong.

Since GIES was launched in 2017, it has solicited support and aroused attention from different parties. Not only the general public can explore and learn about various gerontechnology and solutions in GIES, the elderly and rehabilitation service sector is also mobilized and has become more willing to adopt gerontech. It also facilitates the development of several pilot services and projects.

Besides, GIES provides a platform drawing together stakeholders to engage in dialogue and collaboration for broader adoption of gerontech. It further helps to drive policy changes as well as societal and economic developments in Hong Kong for meeting the challenge brought about by population ageing and disability.

WHO can apply?

• The Person-In-Charge (PIC) must be a full-time staff member of CUHK holding a position within the professoriate or research academic ranks
• Projects that are led or co-led by CUHK’s staff members, presenting the use of CUHK's IP or holding a license for CUHK’s IP.
• The IP of innovations presented at this event must be owned/co-owned by CUHK.
• Priority will be given to applicants who have at least submitted a patent filing submission to KTO.

Privileges to apply through CUHK KTO

• KTO will cover the cost of selected teams’ booth participation fees, as well as the printing of the backdrop and entry passes
• The selected teams would be consented to be used for the University’s promotional purposes in 2026/2027 ^1,2

*Teams may be invited for an interview prior to being shortlisted.

Important notes

• Project teams are required to maintain a physical presence at their designated booths throughout the duration of the event. The attendance records will be retained by the Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) and may serve as a reference for the screening and selection of teams in future KT events.
• Additional work on poster development and event preparation will be needed before the physical presentation in GIES 2026.
• Final selection of teams will be subject to an internal review by the KTO and acceptance by the main organizer and/or corporate partners, which deemed appropriate
• All applications should be submitted to the Knowledge Transfer Events Management Team, Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO). If no record of information submission is received, KTO reserves the right to exclude the project from the CUHK pavilion and promotional activities.
