About the Belt and Road Summit

Jointly organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Belt and Road Summit is a premier international platform for participants to capture promising business opportunities along the Belt and Road.

Since its inception in 2016, the Summit has gathered senior government officials and prestigious business leaders from countries and regions along and beyond the Belt and Road to exchange insights on multilateral collaboration and explore potential business opportunities.

WHO can apply? 

  • The Person-In-Charge (PIC) must be full time staff member of CUHK holding a position within the professoriate or research academic ranks
  • Start-ups or spin-offs that are founded or co-founded by CUHK’s staff members, presenting the use of CUHK’s IP or holding a license for CUHK’s IP

  • The IP of innovations presented at this event must be owned/ co-owned by CUHK^

  • Start-ups or spin-offs with a focus on technologies including but not limited to

    1) Engineering
    2) Infrastructure
    3) Green Energy, Technology Applications and Smart City Solutions
    4) Fintech
    5) Transportation and Logistics Services
    6) Information Technology Services

At least have submitted a patent filing submission to KTO

 

Application Details

 Step 1:  Complete the online (CUHK) application form for KTO vetting*

 Submission Deadline:
 19 June 2026, Friday
 Step 2:  Interview and vetting  By Mid – Late Jun 2026, TBC
 Step 3:  Confirmation email will be sent to shortlisted applicant teams   By Late Jun – Early Jul 2026, TBC

 *Shortlisted teams may be invited for interview prior to KTO vetting and selection

 

Privileges to apply through KTO

  • Secure a place through KTO, CUHK1

  • All applications through KTO would be considered as CUHK teams and consented to be used for University’s promotions in 2026/2027 2,3

  • The booth and participation fee of selected CUHK teams will be supported by CUHK KTO while other expenses shall be borne by team itself

Only CUHK members will be accredited

Important Note

  • KTO will cover the costs of registration, booth and entry passes
  • Local transportation and logistics will not be provided
  • Project teams are required to maintain a physical presence at their designated booths throughout the duration of the event. The attendance records will be retained by the knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) and may serve as a reference for the screening and selection of teams in future KT events
  • Additional works on poster development and event preparation may/will be needed prior to physical presentation in Belt and Road Summit 2026
  • Final selection of teams will be subject to internal review by KTO and acceptance by the main organizer and/or corporate partners, which deemed appropriate
  • All applications should be submitted to Knowledge Transfer Events Management Team, Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO). If no record of information submission is received, KTO reserves the final right to exclude the project from the CUHK pavilion and promotional activities
